THREE DAYS TO SEE................................ BY HELLEN KELLER

"I am only one, but still I am one.
 I cannot do everything, but still i can do something;
And because I cannot do everything,
I will not refuse to do something that I can do".

These are the words of a person in great profile. An American author, activist and lecturer who born deaf and blind. That is Hellen Keller.

She says that, if, by some miracle, i were granted three seeing days, to be followed by a relapse into darkness, i should divide the period into three parts.

On her first day

She want to see the people whose kindness and gentleness and companionship have made my life worth living.

·         She would like to gaze long upon the face of her dear teacher, mrs. Anne sullivan macy, who came to her when she was a child and opened the outer world to her. And to study that face and find in it the living evidence of the sympathetic tenderness and patience with which she accomplished the difficult task of her education.

·         She want to see into the heart of a friend through that "window of the soul," the eye. She can only "see" through her fingertips the outline of a face.

·         Then she should let her eyes rest, too, on the face of a baby, so that she could catch a vision of the eager, innocent beauty which precedes the individual's consciousness of the conflicts which life develops.

·         And she like to look into the loyal, trusting eyes of my dogs -- the grave, canny little scottie, darkie, and the stalwart, understanding great dane, helga, whose warm, tender, and playful friendships are so comforting to her.

·          she also want view the small simple things of her home. She want to see the warm colours in the rugs under her feet, the pictures on the walls.

·         Then lastly she should take a long walk in the woods and intoxicate my eyes on the beauties of the world of nature.

On the second day
1.       she want to arise with the dawn and see the thrilling miracle by which night is transformed into day. She behold with awe the magnificent panorama of light with which the sun awakens the sleeping earth.

2.      She want to see the pageant of man's progress, the kaleidoscope of the ages. Through the museums.

3.      She longed to see with my eyes the condensed history of the earth and its inhabitants displayed there -- animals and the races of men pictured in their native environment; gigantic carcasses of dinosaurs.

4.      Then her next stop would be the metropolitan museum of art, for just as the museum of natural history reveals the material aspects of the world, so does the metropolitan show the myriad facets of the human spirit.

5.      She  should try to probe into the soul of man through his art. The things i knew through touch i should now see.

6.       She should look deep into the canvases of RaphaelLeonardo da vinci, titian, Rembrandt. I should want to feast my eyes upon the warm colors of Veronese, study the mysteries of El Greco, and catch a new vision of nature from Corot. Oh, there is so much rich meaning and beauty in the art of the ages for you who have eyes to see.

7.      The evening of her second day of sight she should spend at a theater or at the movies. Even now she often attend theatrical performances of all sorts, but the action of the play must be spelled into her hand by a companion.

The last day
1.      She must start from her home in the quiet little suburb of forest hills, long island. Here, surrounded by green lawns, trees, and flowers, are neat little houses, happy with the voices and movements of wives and children, havens of peaceful rest for men who toil in the city.

2.      Then begin her rounds of the city. First, he want to stand at a busy corner, merely looking at people, trying by sight of them to understand something of their lives.

3.      She want make a tour of the city -- to park avenue, to the slums, to factories, to parks where children play. Then she should take a stay-at-home trip abroad by visiting the foreign quarters.

I HAVE A DREAM.............

“LET US NOT WALLOW IN THE VALLEY OF DESPAIR, I SAY TO YOU TODAY, MY FRIENDS.
AND SO EVEN THOUGH WE FACE THE DIFFICULTIES OF TODAY AND TOMORROW, I STILL HAVE A DREAM. IT IS A DREAM DEEPLY ROOTED IN THE AMERICAN DREAM.

I HAVE A DREAM THAT ONE DAY THIS NATION WILL RISE UP AND LIVE OUT THE TRUE MEANING OF ITS CREED: "WE HOLD THESE TRUTHS TO BE SELF-EVIDENT, THAT ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL."

I HAVE A DREAM THAT ONE DAY ON THE RED HILLS OF GEORGIA, THE SONS OF FORMER SLAVES AND THE SONS OF FORMER SLAVE OWNERS WILL BE ABLE TO SIT DOWN TOGETHER AT THE TABLE OF BROTHERHOOD.

I HAVE A DREAM THAT ONE DAY EVEN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, A STATE SWELTERING WITH THE HEAT OF INJUSTICE, SWELTERING WITH THE HEAT OF OPPRESSION, WILL BE TRANSFORMED INTO AN OASIS OF FREEDOM AND JUSTICE.

I HAVE A DREAM THAT MY FOUR LITTLE CHILDREN WILL ONE DAY LIVE IN A NATION WHERE THEY WILL NOT BE JUDGED BY THE COLOUR OF THEIR SKIN BUT BY THE CONTENT OF THEIR CHARACTER.

”MY COUNTRY 'TIS OF THEE, SWEET LAND OF LIBERTY, OF THEE I SING.
LAND WHERE MY FATHERS DIED, LAND OF THE PILGRIM'S PRIDE,
FROM EVERY MOUNTAINSIDE, LET FREEDOM RING!”

VALUE OF HISTORY??????????????????????????

ALMOST ALL THE PEOPLE ARE ASKING ME THAT WHY YOU ARE STUDYING HISTORY? IS THERE ANY SCOPE?IS THERE ANY JOB SCOPES?WHY IS THAT IT IS WASTE OF TIME ONLY NA? U WILL GET SLEEP WHILE READING THAT OR LISTENING TO ANY LECTURES?LIKE THAT KIND OF QUESTIONS.

THEN ONE OF MY FRIEND ALSO TOLD ME THAT "HERE YOU SEE YOUR CLASS STRENGTH IS ONLY  FIVE AND TEN SO THAT ITSELF SHOWS "HISTORY IS DECLINING"OR DEGENERATING ITS VALUE IN PRESENT DAY SCENARIO.?

SO WHAT I WANT TO SAY TO THEM?IS IT REALLY DECLINING OR NOT?
FOR SOME PEOPLE I SAID THAT "HISTORY HAS WIDE SCOPE ,LIKE NUMISMATICS,MUSEOLOGY,ARCHAEOLOGY,PALEOGRAPHY,EPIGRAPHY,RESEARCH,ETC.............
SO I REALIZED THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS THESE THINGS?AND THEY SIMPLY KEEP IN MIND THAT "HO HISTORY NA,NOTHING IS THERE.NO USE ALSO.IT JUST STORY TELLING."
BUT I UNDERSTOOD THAT  THESE PEOPLE ARE TOTALLY UNDERESTIMATED THE "HISTORY".AND I MUST SAY THAT WHILE READING,LEARNING,LISTENING THE HISTORY ITSELF SHOWS THE SCOPE AND VALUES AND THE NECESSITY TO UNDERSTAND THE WHAT DOES HISTORY MEANS...................................???????????
A NURSERY RHYME,BUT IT TELLS A HISTORY OF EUROPE.

"Ring-a-ring o' roses,
A pocket full of posies,
A-tishoo! A-tishoo!
We all fall down".

IT TELLS US THAT The rhyme has often been associated with the Great Plague which happened in England in 1665, or  Black Death in England.
WHY SOME  PEOPLE ARE NOT READY TO COMPROMISE WITH THE HISTORY?
DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS THE REASON?
I AM A STUDENT, A STUDENT OF HISTORY,SO I AM INTERESTED IN EXPLORING THE "HISTORY"IN MY FIELD.

HISTORY MAKES HISTORY................IT GLORIFIES THE PAST.........IT IS NOT AT ALL A STORY TELLING.
